Highland Hills Farms imported their first Hutterer "Mandelbox" almond roaster from Germany in 1985. We had seen the success of the German roasted almonds in the street fairs and festivals of Germany, and we felt that the same type of product would be popular in the United States as well. Working with the German machines and packaging from Germany's premiere packaging source, Haase GmbH, we began producing our first Cinnamon roasted almonds. From our beginnings with street fairs in Michigan and Ohio, we soon began to expand into other states, and we now do shows from Arizona to Pennsylvania, from Florida to Minnesota. Now, our original Cinnamon Crunch Almonds © can be found in craft fairs, horse shows, and Renaissance festivals throughout the United States. After our 1999 trip to Germany and Austria, during which we visited numerous Christmas Markets, we realized that this was a business endeavor virtually free from the restrictions of competition. Helmut Haase, President of Haase GmbH, introduced us to many of the owners of individual almond roasting companies. All of these companies, despite their proximity to one another were prospering at every Market that we attended. In early 2000, we finalized arrangements to be the exclusive distributors of almond roasters and packaging for Hutterer and Sons and Haase GmbH for all of North and South America. It is our belief that this is a business that can and will prosper in any market to which it is introduced. |
